Disabling the three units at Kalinin NPP
Today, July 18, 2019 early in the morning at 5:02 was off of three units (№1, №2 and №4) at Kalinin NPP (a separate division of JSC "Concern") of the total system.
The cause of the alarm output operation of three units become damaged current transformer (CT) 750 kV breaker (B-91). The switch was turned off action of differential current inhibition it was a result of this de-energized NL 1 (bus system) of 750 kV.
This led to the shutdown of the pore (1000 MW), second (1000 MW) and fourth (1000 MW) power. Thus the total load was 3203 MW. Besides unilaterally disconnected the line 750 kV:
"Kalinin NPP-Pilot" and "Kalinin NPP - Belozerskaya.
Besides on the third unit load reduction occurred to 476 MW, 1061 MW in the original.
As a result, the operational action DD CDU was produced administered spare capacity that is not allowed to interrupt the supply of electricity to the consumer.
At 6 hours and 35 minutes NL 1 750 kV was put under tension. Emergency recovery activities on the switch going on.
Power unit №4 is ready to be put into operation, and the blocks №1 and №2 are further tested.
As stated experts, the background radiation around the plant is normal and does not exceed natural background.
For reference. Kalinin NPP was commissioned in 1984, the total capacity of the four units is 4000 MW, 705 Gcal / h. The energy is transported via high-voltage power lines in the Tver, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vladimir and Cherepovets. Just after this is done the high voltage station transit.
