Save petunia in winter

Petunia - a magnificent plant, which pleases us with the flowering almost all summer and until the autumn. Many gardeners throw this plant, the end of the growing season. And for good reason. Petunia, you can save, and it will continue to bloom for the following year.

What should be done

To do this, dig the plant and bring it home before the first frost. It needs to be treated before digging fungicide. Then take the pot to fill expanded clay for drainage layer 3 cm, then a layer of fertile soil for flowers and some top vermiculite (better breathability). Thus, all the layers should occupy about half of the pot. Next pour fertile soil again, leaving space for a flower, and gently land mother bush petunia, which will hereinafter be used for propagation by cuttings. Then pour the soil to fill the voids. Water the plant with lukewarm water and put on the box.

In the future, the bush will grow petunias. When will the shoots grow, they need to be cut on the cuttings for rooting. In winter they will need a backlight. In the spring, during the formation of the root system in the petioles, they can be planted to a permanent place in the garden.

If the plant is growing in a pot

If the plant you initially grown in a pot on the street, it is necessary to process (shedding) a fungicide "Fundazol" and insecticide of your choice (for example, aktellik) before hibernation, to avoid root rot and pests. Also make phosphorus-potassium fertilizer. Give the plant stand in the street for several hours and then bring home. As new shoots can be of grafted and rooting.
