Rule №1: not to grow a lemon from a stone.

You could grow a lemon tree from seeds, buying a lemon fruit in any supermarket. But in the nature of the lemons can grow up to six meters. Therefore it is better not to risk it and buy a plant in a flower shop. For cultivation in the room preferably dwarf varieties, such as the Meyer Lemon (grows up to 1.5 meters, year-round fruits lemons medium size, which are sweeter than other varieties) or "Eureka" (grow up to three meters, but willingly fruits, productivity peaks in the winter).

The main thing for growing lemon trees - a large amount of light. 6-8 hours of sunlight per day - ideal conditions for the plant, but it can be illuminated in a dark corner. Artificial lighting is required, at least in the winter when the plant is gaining color and needs to have 6-12 hours of light. Rule №3: maintain the desired temperature.

The average temperature at which the bloom lemons: 20 degrees during the day and 13 degrees at night. At temperatures below 13 degrees tree enters the dormancy period.

Rule №4: do not spare the water.

Water the lemon tree often. The soil in the tub should not be wet, but it should always be moderately moist. In nature citrus trees live in a humid environment, and it is easier to cope with high humidity than the shock of drought they are experiencing great difficulty. Good hydration is important not only for the normal growth and development of a lemon tree, but also for fruit - or they will not juicy.

But do not water your lemon tree just because the soil surface is dry. Check the moisture level at the root level. It is best to use hygrometer (humidity meter for indoor plants) - it is an inexpensive way to always know exactly what your plant needs watering or not yet.

Rule number 5: spray.

At home, citrus trees are living in an environment where the humidity often reaches 70%, and the daily summer rains - a common occurrence. Spray the plants twice a day or wipe it with a damp sponge. This moisture will be absorbed directly leaves, which, in turn, will ensure its delivery to the fruits, where it is most needed.

The best time for handling a lemon tree is considered to be the second half of February. New capacity for the plant should not be markedly different from the previous size: pot increases by 2-4 centimeters in diameter, tub - 4-8 centimeters. Make sure the container has adequate drainage holes.

If lemon is not cut, the plant will quickly lose a nice rounded shape, the branches begin to grow in all directions, which is not acceptable for indoor plants. During flowering and fruiting plant is not cut: the tree will have to spend too much energy on growing a new flower and leaves.
