Replacing liquid wallpaper (we decided to do it yourself, because it will be cheaper)

My family and I live in the city and in the summer, we go to the country, which is located in a rural village. At the cottage we go only once a year, and when we arrived at this time discovered that the walls in the kitchen spoiled by damp on the walls liquid wallpaper. The kitchen is located in the basement and on the street track is flush with the window in the kitchen. That is why during the rainy wet walls and wallpaper yellowed and slightly swollen, in the room was unbearable smell of damp.

Out of this situation was the only one to make a repair, we decided to do it yourself, because it will be cheaper. In the first place we went to the hardware store for shopping and bought:

Liquid wallpaper gray 7 sacks;

Primer 5 liters;

Large brush 2 pieces;

A metal spatula two pieces;

Spangles 4 bags;

Trowel 2 pieces.

The work we have carried out in stages.

Preparing walls. First of all it was necessary to prepare the wall, that is to tear off the old wallpaper from the walls. We have collected wallpapers using a spatula to peel in some places the wallpaper was very hard and had a bit of wet walls and wait for five minutes, then the wallpaper filmed very easy, by the way the wallpaper on one wall, we were not a rip off, they have not been spoiled, and if after the complete replacement of wallpaper, they will be released, we will replace them and this wall. Then, after drying the walls caused a primer layer using a large brush. After that, it was necessary to wait until the wall is completely dry, and it is one day.

Prepare the wallpaper. And while the wall dried up, we have prepared a raw material. Wallpapers need to soak the day before application. We soaked them in a bath in warm water to a thick porridge, add sequins put in a bag and left overnight.

The application of wallpaper. The next day we got to work. Wallpapers we dealt with a trowel, small pieces of mush imposed on the trowel and rovnomenrno spread on the wall. The whole process took 5 hours. After drying, the wallpaper looked very nice, and the wall, on which we have not changed the wallpaper, did not stand out.
