Eames DSW - iconic designer chair, which was invented by accident
Eames DSW chair was invented about 60 years ago, and still want to call it one of the most convenient, versatile and sought-after items. If I meet a mention of this chair, it is always as a benchmark for ergonomics and style.
The model was created by the American pair of architects and designers Charles and Ray Eames. The couple loved to experiment with materials and technology and industrial development enthusiastically adapted to fit your design ideas.
A design inspired by the war
During the Second World War Eames collaborated with the US Navy. They participated in the development of parts for airplanes and biomorphic tires for fixing damaged limbs from the soldiers. These medical tire turned out so beautiful that have been recognized by the Metropolitan Museum of "work of art". The very same experiment showed that the plywood fine bends and holds its shape, as was the material for the creativity and design. Thus it was created a minimalistic chair with fusion backrest and seat, which comfortably adjusts to the figure of a man of any complexion.
Having made many prototypes, in 1946 presented the Eames chairs of molded plywood on the exhibition of contemporary art in New York. Mass production began in 1949, to Herman Miller factory. Eames DSW was enthusiastically accepted by society, who are tired of the war and is now seeking to fill your life with beauty and comfort.
In developing the second-generation model, the material for the manufacture of glass chosen, but later it was replaced by more eco-friendly and practical material. Since 1989, it began to be used polypropylene, well keep in shape and resistant to mechanical stress and abrasive loads.
Today Eames chairs all as manufactured from polypropylene in combination with wood and metal. This is the most replicated the model in the world and official rules for its implementation are only 2 companies: Eames Dar and the Vitra, where chairs are handmade.
I saw the original Eames DSW, and repeatedly confronted with replicas. In offices and cafes like to put DSW counterparts, because they are practical and always look appropriate.
The difference in performance of palpable, real Eames worth its five-digit sum, and I would gladly took home. Delighted with the comfort of a chair is not too exaggerated - the perfect form!
