Upgrade (repair) floor in a holiday house

Today we look at another one of our works on the reconstruction (repair) floor in a holiday home. In short: a house - a wooden square log. Reconstruction of floors was carried out in three rooms of the first floor. The reason for the upgrade (repair) floor - Customer complaint about the low temperature of the floor during the cold season, as well as the lack of rigidity of the floor constructions - "Floors breathe", ie, when you move across the floor even one person felt the vibration of the sexes, and in some places, such that the shaking went to the furniture and everything in it It was.

The task: Perform reconstruction (repair) flooring in three rooms of the country house, including the dismantling of existing structures, installation of new insulation, construction of flooring from wood flooring.

Progress of works: Outset - due to lack of a hatch-manhole in the underground space, the financial part of the work was divided into two phases. Originally osmetcheny work to dismantle the baseboards, casings, etc. - that is all that is needed to disassemble, to ensure test cutouts in the floor, which would allow to get into the underground space and assess the degree of inside the disaster. Accordingly, in the initial estimates for the reconstruction of floors, it included the cost of the actual test cuts. Once it became clear that the need to remodel, was developed by the main estimates for the execution of works on repair of the floor.

So, at the end of the first part of the upgrade of (repair) floor, we had done the following:

- partially dismantled baseboards and door trim;
- equipped test-hatch manholes in the underground space;
- in places everything the hatch-manhole dismantled crate, insulation.

After you complete the work before us appeared the following picture: "steam waterproofing floors" was performed by mounting reinforced polyethylene film, which resulted in a lack of condensate - in such a way all the insulation was wet and did not fulfill its function. This is the first. Second - on the spans of more than 3 meters, logs were stacked arrangement without intermediate supports, so in spite of the fact that as used lag sufficiently massive bar (100h200 mm) floors "breathe", i.e. It lacked the necessary rigidity design. To bring the floor constructions in working condition, we have proposed and agreed upon by the Customer the following list of repair work (going from bottom to top):

1. Alignment of soil in the underground space;
2. Sand bedding, a thickness of about 5 cm;
3. harboring soil (sand) with polyethylene film to minimize evaporation;
4. Construction of intermediate supports at locations where the span exceeds 3 m;
5. Installation I-lag treated antiseptic composition;
6. Arrangement hemming, by mounting transverse boards to the lower flanges of I-beams;
7. Construction of steam waterproofing and insulation;
8. Construction of a leveling batten with a fine pitch, for the subsequent installation of plywood;
9. Arrangement subfloors of plywood, thickness 20 mm;
10. Stacking of substrates, ultrafine electric floor heating and the floorboard.

Actually the list of works on reconstruction of the sexes in a holiday home and has been executed. A detailed description of each item does not make sense, because seems to be understood by all (if you have questions, ask them through the comment form located at the end of each article or on our forum), Will focus only on a few points.

Intermediate support was carried out by screwing the two piles that are stacked channels, which, in turn, has relied new logs. The overall appearance of the finished design you can see in the photo below:

On top of the lag was undeveloped crate, has two functions: first - leveling, ie providing leveling level of the old floors in relation to the new, and the second - is to ensure rigidity under the plywood stacking by reducing step. In other words - if we put plywood on the joists immediately step which was 600 mm in order, then the plywood to flex when walking, but by arrangement of crates on logs, this step has been reduced up to 15-20 cm, which provide a large bearing area of ​​plywood and, therefore, exclude the possibility deflections.

After the plywood was laid down, acting as a support arrangement, the installation of ultra-thin floor heating and laying parquet. The result of these repair works on the reconstruction of the floor in a holiday home, you can see in the following photo:
