How to gather mushrooms - cut or twist?
Season of "quiet hunting" has long been over, but the theme of how to collect mushrooms still quite interesting and a lot of controversy, so Zeke and Zack decided to understand and to put this issue point.
Surely you yourself quite often hear different advice:
- someone says that it is necessary to cut the mushrooms, otherwise you will damage the mycelium and there's nothing more to grow;
- and someone says that mushrooms need to twist, to leave no scrap feet, which will rot and ruin the mycelium;
How can gather mushrooms right?
Both statements are incorrect. In fact, most people can not find fungi and does not collect, so they stay in place and rot. And while the mycelium of this does not die, otherwise the mushrooms would long ago have killed themselves, but this does not happen, so the mushrooms can be cut.
But they can also be unscrewed - mycelium can take several acres of woodland and it is essentially a mycelium fungus (and what we're going to just their fruiting bodies). When you are twisting the mushroom, the mycelium is formed on only a small "wound", which quickly drags the new threads of mycelium.
