Putty for wood with his hands. A very simple recipe. Advantages and disadvantages
Such putty for wood I use for a long time, and it shows itself quite well. Conveniently, you do not need to worry with the selection of filler material - the necessary components will be always at hand.
A method for preparing such putty on the surface and it is used many who work with wood.
The recipe is really simple and familiar to many. But even knowing the recipe, putty quality you can get very different. As they say: "The devil lies in the details."
Next, I'll talk about those little things that I have discovered on their own experience and that allow good control of the results.
Recipe
The recipe is really simple - wood dust and PVA glue.
Why wood dust, not dust as found in many recipes putty?
After polishing the wood dust is a lot. This material is the same as the detail that you need to putty. Wood dust finer than sawdust, which allows it to close the small cracks.
Now PVA. To prepare the filler is well suited building PVA. it fits loosely for gluing wooden parts, but the wood dust binds well. After drying of this plaster is ground very well.
I originally tried to use carpenter's PVA. Based on it to grind very hard putty.
Yet there are benefits from it. carpenter's PVA glue if necessary can be added to the building (approximately 1:10) and increase the strength of the fillers.
According to this recipe plaster better to prepare in small quantities and immediately spend. Store it is not necessary.
Mixing may, for example on the lid by adhesive. The wood dust add a little glue.
Stir until smooth. I usually do it as a soft dough.
Caulking is ready for use.
Advantages and disadvantages
In such a filler there are certainly advantages and disadvantages.
Plus, this filler, it is well kept, do not crumble, and the color corresponds to the material.
Another plus - this coat is painted well, along with the major surface, almost no different in color.
Minus - dries for a long time. Depending on the thickness may be from 3 hours to 12. Yet of course it depends on the room temperature.
Another shortcoming - shrinks when drying and this may require repeated application of putty.
As I said earlier in this article, I use a putty for a long time and I was completely satisfied with the results.
