As the five-story building in the USSR transferred
On the Internet a long time walking black and white pictures, which can be seen both in the Soviet Union from place to place was transferred to houses and office buildings. However, none of the items coming across to me is not told how this manipulation was carried out from a technical point of view, therefore, the idea of writing this article.
So, to begin with we shall understand, why and who needed to remove buildings.
With the development of road transport in Moscow discovered a problem - the central streets were narrow and it was impossible to build two lanes. New (Stalin) Master Plan for Reconstruction of Moscow in 1935 provided expansion of the streets of the capital by transferring the houses.
The second purpose for which the building was transferred - aesthetic appearance. Some buildings are frankly not fit into the ensemble of the neighboring houses and their "sent" to the background: simply moved the yard.
So, How does the transfer of multi-ton Mahin?
First stage.
House using metal cables "cranked" around its axis and slightly shifted from the foundation.
Shifted house set on pre-harvested powerful jacks and support.
The third stage.
From the old place "parking" of the house until the new break through trench, which is filled with concrete. On top of concrete sleepers installed, and they put rollers.
The fourth stage.
House tied up with metal frame, put on the I-beams and rollers move in the right direction. After that, the house placed on a pre-filled new foundation.
Interesting fact.
Homes and buildings were transferred in just a few hours, mostly at night. A movement of the house were so smooth that their residents do not feel any vibrations and literally waking up in a new place. Interestingly transferred NII VODGEO: inside the building work was in full swing, chemists worked in laboratories, and the building was moved to a new location, not disconnected from the urban communications.
