Repairs were capital - changed the old floor in the laminate, lined and painted walls, put a new plastic windows. All equipment and updated - in the apartment had a large refrigerator, stove with four new washing.

Slice rounded countertop would cost to reduce the likelihood of hitting the corners at the entrance / exit to the kitchen. But it looks too bad, the only question is reducing the risk of injury.
