The neighbor put the fence posts on the foam: why and how much did it cost him?

A spicy story about my neighbor an unfortunate builder, who, when installing fence posts, replaced concrete with expensive polyurethane foam for your judgment.

By the way, here is the result of the neighbor's labor - a brand new fence made of a chain-link mesh, around which heated debates flared up:

In appearance, the fence looks gorgeous: it is set according to the level, the posts are strictly vertical, the ends of the netting are bent, on the posts there are PVC plugs (this is to prevent water from getting inside the post).

Everything has been thought out, even the waterproofing of the pillars. But the most interesting thing is that when installing it, the neighbor deviated from the normal rules, one might say, betrayed the community of builders, and did not use concrete work AT ALL.

And the neighbor fixed the pillars in the ground with the help of "polyurethane foam" - as other men-neighbors told me. I went to check what these new construction technologies are.

The neighbor admitted that this is really foam, but not simple.

He used not the usual mounting foam for window and door openings (as we all thought), but a newfangled mixture - foamy concrete substitute.

Here it is, in the photo below:

Concrete substitute - composite mixture, which is made from polyurethane (like some synthetic insulation). It was invented in Canada, and has recently been mastered in our country, in Russia.

1 kilogram of such foam replaces 50 kilograms of concrete mortar, and literally freezes before our eyes:

  • first strength comes in 10 minutes;
  • brand strength is achieved in 2 hours.

The main quality of a concrete substitute is hydrophobicity. That is, it reliably envelops the pipe, and will not lead it from moisture. Wait and see!

It turns out that abroad even columnar foundations are made with the help of such foam. I found an interesting photo for your judgment:

Do you think a reliable design is obtained?
