How to strengthen a fence made of profiled sheet so that the hurricane wind does not blow the sheets
Hello everyone! I want to share my useful homemade product that will help summer residents and residents of country houses to make a truly strong fence from a professional sheet.
The main plus of my revision is that thanks to it, the fence can easily withstand even strong hurricane winds: the sheets do not bend, do not come off, and the fence posts stand exactly.
The photo above shows a typical fence made of corrugated board, although in order to save money, many of the independent instead of three crossbars (lag) builders are allowed only two: 30 cm from the bottom and 25-30 cm from the top of the edge sheet.
In a strong wind, the load on the mount increases, and it is not uncommon for the crossbar (log) to fall off the post even with a high-quality welded seam. It is very difficult to brew it without removing the sheet.
I suggest the following scheme:
The cross members are shown in red in the photo. We weld a strip of metal with one side to the cross member, the other side to the post. The shorter the strip of metal, the stronger the bond. Ideally, bend the strip to match the pipe profile (square / circle).
Thanks to this design, the profiled sheet transfers the wind load to the logs, and the logs transfer the load to the posts better. If they are dug to a sufficient depth and concreted according to my technology (link below), even a storm wind is not terrible for the fence.
