Aunt Lida's grape secrets
Aunt Lida showed her grapes and lamented that they were not at all the same as in previous years, smaller. Because she could not take care of him this season, she only watered and cut a little.
It is true, before, with careful care, she had grapes with incredibly large clusters and huge berries.
What surprised me with her grapes this time? It is neglected, healthy and rewarding! They began to study only at the end of May!
These mid-season varieties were still green when I came to visit, but the potential is already visible:
I asked how she planted? How did you fertilize?
I will clarify, we are talking about Krasnodar, black soil.
Intriguing: the most important advice at the end of the article.
Landing secretfromaunt Lida - all according to Soviet books
Seedling
The seedling for autumn planting should ripen well (the whole vine is brown or red, not green). The growth is cut, leaving only a few stepsons for photosynthesis.
That is, the planting time depends solely on the maturation of the vine (to the very tip). It could be the end of September and even the end of November in the south.
Pit
- A hole was dug in the fall for an autumn planting, for each seedling 60 x 80 and a depth of 80 cm
- The fertile top soil was laid to one side, the infertile (bottom) to the other
- A plumbing pipe was placed in one of the corners with small holes in the direction of the pit for water seepage in height, the diameter of the pipe for Aunt Lida was 10 cm
- And above ground level, ultimately, about 10 cm of the pipe
Than filling the hole
- Crushed stone was poured at the bottom of the pit, with a layer of about 10 cm, tamped down with feet
- Aunt Lida applied mono fertilizers according to Soviet books. 200 g of superphosphate was evenly poured onto the crushed stone, and 50 g of potassium sulfate, half a liter of nitroammophoska and a couple of buckets of humus were mixed with fertile soil. I poured this mixture onto crushed stone with superphosphate. In our time, you can simplify the task, I'll write how.
- Before planting the seedling, the ground was trampled underfoot so as not to sag.
- So, a seedling was laid on the fertile trampled soil, covered with a little fertile soil without additives, and then with a small layer of infertile soil.
- The hole was not completely filled up, after planting the seedling there were 20 centimeters to the top.
- After planting, the seedling's shoot closest to the root system was obtained at ground level in the pit.
- After complete engraftment, the pit was filled up to the usual ground level with infertile soil.
- The seedling was oriented: buds to the north, roots to the south.
- The soil was well moistened, but not flooded.
In spring, with watering, nitrogen fertilizers were introduced in the form of an infusion of chicken manure.
How to fertilize in our time
Now it is easier to buy a complex fertilizer for grapes and apply according to the instructions. For example, "WMD for grapes", Buisk fertilizers. Or use "Fertilizers for planting seedlings". Mix the rate with the top fertile soil layer and fill it to a height of about 30 cm. Humus is good to add anyway.
And now, the main advice of Aunt Lida: trim! Cut and cut, the more the better!
This advice, of course, is not for thoughtless implementation, but it shows a direction that strongly distinguishes caring for grapes from caring for any other crop.
The topic of cropping is extensive, if interested, write in the comments. We have a subscriber ready to share secrets.
Despite the fact that Aunt Lida has a minimum of time to take care of the plants, she cuts off the grapes.
Your opinion is interesting.
