This article is a continuation of the previous publication on how to make a decorative stone with your own hands without special shapes. I'll leave a link to it at the end.

Now the decorative "bricks" are already ready, but as you remember, they are not white, but grayish. Although after complete drying, the tiles still turned white. I suggest giving them more colors!

I wanted to create a decorative stone of unusual shades, not as boring and of the same type as in hardware stores. Some people may not like this. But this is a matter of personal preference! Here's what happened:

I decided to use the simplest option for staining a decorative stone. For this we need colors, acrylic varnish, as well as a primer and water. I bought some of the cheapest colors (about 40 rubles per bottle). For the main color I took - brown and additionally - the colors of black, red-brown and ocher.

Now everything is in order.

Pour 4 liters of water into a bucket. Using a syringe, add 5 cubes of brown color for each liter of water. Those. 4 liters - 20 color cubes. Then he added a red-brown color scheme there, adhering to the same proportions.

Next, we move on to coloring. You can do this with a brush, but it's not very convenient. It is better to just throw the tiles into a bucket of solution, so the front part will paint over better and faster, forming a pattern.

Now we are preparing solutions with additional colors. Add 10 cubes of color of the selected colors to 0.5 liters of water (I have black and ocher). Stir and apply in several places on the stone with a paint brush. If it seems to you that you have applied too much, then you can remove it with a sponge, but only until the paint has dried. And it dries for about 20-30 seconds.

I applied several layers of paint because one layer did not seem saturated enough. Be sure to blend the color lightly with a damp sponge. There should be a separate corner of the sponge for each color.

Next, cover with varnish. Don't forget to stir it!

You can use the varnish in its pure form or dilute it with water in a ratio of 1 to 2 (or 1 to 3). A diluted varnish will give a matte finish, and a clean varnish will give a glossy shine.

Many people love white bricks, so for comparison - white tiles. One specimen was varnished, the other was dipped in a primer. Here's what happened in the end:

The only disadvantage of this painting option - the plaster gets wet. Therefore, after all the manipulations, the stones need to be thoroughly dried again for about 1-2 days.

But before painting, the decorative stone must be made! And how to do it, read here -How to make a decorative stone with your own hands without special shapes? Easy! And also cheap!

After calculating all the costs for gypsum, self-leveling floor, colors, varnish, primer, it turned out that a square meter of homemade decorative stone costs about 70 rubles. While in stores the same stone sell from 900 rubles per square! That's the kind of savings more than 10 times!
