We make a convenient welding holder. Step-by-step instruction
Hello again, gentlemen of homemade products. Today I am putting another homemade product for your fair trial. We will make a welding holder from a handle for a grinder.
As always, I do not indicate the exact dimensions, so as not to complicate the task. I show only the idea itself, which I spied on the bourgeoisie.
We take an ordinary high nut, in which the electrode itself will be held.
We drill a through hole in it of 3 mm, or 4 mm, depending on which electrodes you will use it for.
Then you need a stud, which, along the thread, should naturally fit the nut. The length of the hairpin should be taken approximately 10-12 cm.
Now we take the bolt and the wing, the bolt should also fit in the thread to our nut. This will be a device for clamping the electrode in the nut.
Then the wing nut must be screwed onto the bolt and welded. Here it is enough to make a few tacks.
Now we leave a threaded segment, about 2-3 cm long, but it is better to do it with a margin of 4 cm. We cut off the rest. You should have a gizmo like in the photo.
Then you get the point. We screw in the lamb from the reverse side of the high nut and with its thread it clamps the electrode motionlessly.
Here, before cutting off the excess, estimate how much thread on the wing you need to leave so that it completely covers the hole in the nut when fully tightened. Measure seven times ...
Now we make the handle of the holder, for which we use the handle from the grinder or perforator. Initially, this handle already has a factory pin and we need to knock it out. The hole in the handle itself needs to be slightly widened with a drill for your new pin.
This is how this structure will be put together.
Now, at the end of our hairpin, we attach the earth cable from the welding machine. If you clamp the mass with nuts as in the photo, then see that they enter the cavity of the handle from the grinder.
We put the hairpin with the mass into the handle so that our hairpin comes out from the back side.
Now we screw the long nut onto the stud. We screw it so that the thread of the stud certainly does not block the hole for the electrodes.
Well, and the final touch, we screw the lamb.
The welding arm is now ready for use. I would make a 4 mm hole here, since I usually use three electrodes for work, but sometimes a four is needed. Do not make two different nuts for different electrodes. The lamb grips the electrode well and does not dangle.
I also had my doubts about the handle. There are concerns that during operation, the high nut will heat up and melt the handle body to which it fits snugly. So I would put in a few thermoplastic or paranite washers.
For experienced welders who cook tank armor every day, such a thing is certainly not suitable))) And so for summer cottage work on the site and at home, then it turns out quite suitable homemade product.
On this, if you please bow to the gentlemen. I am waiting for your criticism or useful ideas for modernizing such a holder. Mikhalych was with you, all peace and kindness !!!
