Making a simple corn grinder

Hello everyone, gentlemen, homemade products. Today we are going to make a corn grinder using an ordinary grinder and an old saucepan. Such a grinder is useful for those who keep poultry in small quantities and prepare feed for them, including mixing corn.

A friend of mine made himself the same thing, only he has it all in large sizes and installed on a special workbench, since he needs to feed 40 chickens and several turkeys.

To make a crusher, we need the grinder itself (clever people and theorists call it LBM), two mounting angles, two bolts for attaching the corners to the grinder and a metal strip, which will act as a knife.

Next, we drill two holes in the corners as shown in the photo. The diameter of the hole should be slightly larger than the hole on the grinder body for attaching the handle (well, that's understandable).

We fix the corners on the angle grinder with bolts, as shown in the photo.

Now we are making holes in the pan itself, preferably in the center as accurately as possible, although the exact centering is not very important here. I would make this hole literally a millimeter larger than the grinder shaft itself. I think this hole is too big in the photo.

We put the pan on its regular place and fix it with a clamping nut.

Now, through the holes in the corners, we make notes on the bottom of the pan. In these places, we will attach the corners to the bottom.

Drill holes in the bot pan using the marks. Select the hole diameter based on the diameter of the bolts you will use.

If necessary, enlarge the holes on the corners themselves. In our case, bolts and wing nuts were used to fasten the pan and corners.

This is how the result should look like from the inside. As for me, the bolts are too big, you can use smaller ones.

Now we take a piece of metal strip, drill a hole for the grinder shaft and sharpen the edges to make a full-fledged knife out of it.

This is how the result should be. Center hole and sharpened edges. By the way, my friend also made a knife from a strip, but the hole is not in the center, but on the edge. Probably this is also possible, but I think it will lead to increased vibration.

Install the landing nut, then the cutting insert and then the clamping nut.

If anyone does not guess, then before starting, check that your insert does not touch the bolt heads.

We are testing. Put the corn in the pot and cover with the lid while the kernels are still whole, otherwise you will get corn fireworks all over the room.

Then you can remove the lid to observe the grinding process.

This is the quality of grinding as a result. Of course, the state of flour is still very far away, but it is quite suitable for fodder filler.

While the grains are large, the machine must be held with both hands, as it vibrates strongly. But literally after 5-6 seconds of operation, the vibration subsides and you can hold it with one hand.

In general, everything. You can try and experiment locally with the knives and grinder speed to get the grind you want. You get the idea.
