Super file: cut ceramics with a jigsaw
Not so long ago, when I was buying a jigsaw, the seller, incidentally, mentioned a file on a jigsaw on a tile. I have never used one, but for the sake of interest I took one piece to check how effective it is and whether it can fully replace other tools. Didn't expect much from her. Now I am sharing the results.
On picture 2 sawing for a metal ruler of a jigsaw without drawing a line. He was the second in a row. I tried to cut at low speeds, at the second speed, and it turned out rather slowly, but at the maximum speed, the cut was quite tolerable in speed, like when cutting thick wooden blocks.
With not too much effort, the cut turned out to be almost excellent! Surprised by the absence of chips along the edges on the front side. Even with a grinder, especially 180 and more, you cannot always cut it off, and not every mechanical tile cutter will give such a result. Here the nail file is very pleased.
There was a drawback in comparison with the tile cutter - a lot of dust, which, with normal volumes, will force you to wear a mask.
I also tried to cut the tiles along the outer arc, which is technically more difficult, but in terms of speed, it seemed, it turned out the same as with a direct cut. No increase in tool load was felt when cutting along the radius.
I think that small-diameter circles inside a tile, for example, for a socket box, will not be able to cut like this because of the decent width of the canvas, and therefore the impossibility of a full-fledged rotation, but circle from 10 cm you can safely cut it. Only for this you will first have to drill a hole for the file to enter.
After several cuts, I checked the blade for integrity. The diamond crumb (if this is it) did not start to pour, which is already good, which means there is a hope that it will serve normally and work out the money spent on it 130 rubles. Although, I must say that the back of the blade after cutting along the arc rubbed pretty much, which I did not expect, and it was licked not only decor, but also metal, which indicates weak steel and the likelihood of twisting the canvas under an even greater axial load on break.
It is convenient to make longitudinal cuts with such a canvas and break off unnecessary parts in the body of the tile under the projections of window sills, vents, shelves, etc.
I can say that nail file for ceramic tiles - not a panacea, sometimes I will use it and it is convenient, but for solid volumes it is better to take a grinder or tile cutter. What do you say?

ANDit is interesting:
No kidding: a seam without sealant at the junction of the pallet and the wall
I changed the pallet for a shower stall. What to think about
Lamp from an old cornice. Not bad
