What an average Pole's apartment looks like

Having common "Soviet" roots with us, the Poles were able to grow out of soviet heritage and "grandmother's" repairs are a thing of the distant past. They were replaced by Scandinavian minimalism. This is due to the fact that the inhabitants of Poland began to fly inexpensively to Sweden and adopt their experience in home improvement.

Due to the high demand, the world-renowned Swedish furniture and home accessories manufacturer IKEA opened its stores in Poland back in 1992. And today you will find products of this brand in almost every apartment.

The main rule that unites all Polish apartments today is maximum naturalness and laconicism. There are several common features:

• no carpets on the floor, much less on the walls;

• natural parquet in living rooms, large discreet tiles in the kitchen and bathrooms;

• heavy curtains are often absent, they are replaced by comfortable and laconic roller blinds or blinds that do not need complex or expensive care;

• the color of the walls is plain, they are decorated with paintings of different sizes or paper murals;

• furniture of light shades or natural wood color, plain textiles, no flowers. Sometimes there is a geometric pattern, it fits well into the ascetic interior;

• the minimum amount of interior knick-knacks that attract dust. Or vice versa - fully open storage systems with or without fabric curtains.

But the bathrooms are more like our apartments, because they have a standard set of furniture and plumbing, which is also available in Russian stores. As a rule, the bathrooms are made in light colors, the sanitary ware is snow-white, like the textiles. What is interesting is that 90% of the apartments lack bathrooms, the bathrooms are equipped only with showers.

Of course, some parts of the interior of the 80-90s are still preserved, but this is more a tribute to the past and historical memory than a functional object.
