Electric heater for home and garden - how to make the right choice
Modern heaters differ significantly both in appearance and in their technical characteristics, therefore, even before buying them, you need to decide which one is right for your home.
For example, if you plan to use a device for additional heating of an apartment, you can buy a fan heater, convector, infrared or oil heaters. It is most reasonable to prefer an electric heater. But if a country house or dacha needs heating, where the power of the electricity network is often limited, the best solution would be to use a gas heater.
If you are looking for a more budgetary solution, it is worth stopping at a fan heater. IR heaters and convectors will cost significantly more.
Of course, you should not go to extremes and choose the model of an electric heater that has the lowest cost. Oftentimes, such cheapness can be evidence of assembly flaws, lack of important functions, or savings on materials.
The main task of the heater is, oddly enough, to heat the room. It is worth knowing that devices of different types are capable of heating space at different speeds. Fan heaters will most likely cope with this task. It takes a little more time for the convector. But an oil heater will be able to warm up a room in no faster than half an hour. At the same time, this device will cool down slowly, while maintaining the temperature in the room. Today it is also possible to buy an oil heater with a built-in fan. Infrared devices do not heat the surrounding air, but the objects at which their glow is directed. Thus, the heat next to them will be felt in a matter of seconds after switching on, but the air will not warm up too quickly.
An IR heater is best suited when directed heat is required. So instead of spending extra energy to warm up a large room, you can ensure a comfortable stay in your favorite chair or sofa. Thanks to this capability, this type of electric heater has gained a reputation as an efficient and energy-saving device.
When choosing a convector or another heater for heating the entire room, one should take into account its volume or area.
To achieve the greatest efficiency of the device, you can correctly position it in a heated space. So convectors are best placed as low as possible above the floor surface, infrared heaters, on the contrary, it is better to place them higher.
