Making a table lamp from an old packing box
Here you are sitting at home, you have nothing to do and so that depression from idleness does not come, take your hands and head with useful homemade products. Today, for your judgment, another masterpiece of thought.
This lamp is made entirely of corrugated cardboard from which the packing boxes are made. If before you just threw them away, then probably the field of this publication will reflect, and not whether you should do something?
Of course, the only non-cardboard items are a light bulb, a socket and a cable!
Consumables:
- corrugated cardboard
- stationery knife
- glue
- Bulb holder and cable
- LED light bulb (this is very important, since cardboard is highly flammable from a normal incandescent light bulb!)
- pencil, ruler
Cut a piece of corrugated cardboard into many strips. Approximately 30-40 centimeters long and 1 cm wide. Divide them in half to create wavy stripes like in the photo.
Twist the cut strips as shown in the photo. Twist the wavy side outward to create wavy edges. It is advisable to make rolls of different sizes, it looks more beautiful. Although it is possible to make them the same - it doesn't matter.
Now we have to join the rolls to get our lamp shade. I used a round bowl. You can use any object as a shape, even a balloon.
Cover the inside or outside of your mold with cardboard rolls and glue them together with PVA glue or hot melt glue. Practice has shown that hot glue holds better.
When you're done and the glue has hardened, carefully remove the cardboard lampshade from your mold. Be very careful when you take it out because it is very fragile!
Next, we make such a frame. At the base of the frame there is a hole made for the bulb holder. Our cardboard lampshade will be installed on the frame itself.
Next, make several rings of cardboard, each of which will be smaller in diameter than the previous one. We glue them to the bottom of the frame, as shown in the second slide. This is necessary not only for decoration, but also to strengthen the base of the frame.
Cut out the cardboard rectangle. Its length is the distance between the base of your lampshade and the base of your lamp. Its width is the conventional circumference of our lamp stand.
Fold the rectangle along its length so you can fold it as shown in the slides.
We insert the rod into the base of the lamp shade frame and fix it with hot melt glue, from the outside and inside. Next, we make a base from the rings, on which the lamp itself will stand. The base is shown in the second slide.
Now we decorate the lamp stand. To do this, again cut the strips of cardboard, dissolve them and glue them to the rack with the corrugated side out.
The final stage is cable installation and lamp holder assembly. How beautiful to install the cable is shown on the slides.
The final step is to glue the lampshade to the frame and screw in the light bulb. We turn on and try, we are happy with the homemade product.
Well, that's all. It turned out to be a very interesting thing. If there is a fantasy, then the lamp can be painted. Or paint the cardboard before making the lamp and make it colored. You can add elements of fabric, lace, rhinestones, ribbons. Add whatever you want.
The only drawback of such a lamp is dust, which will accumulate in the lampshade. I have not yet figured out how to solve the dust issue. Can you advise something sensible.
