From a Dream to Your Own Home: The Story of a Women's Construction Site Part 4 Mistake

Rescue canopy

In the process of painstaking work, we realized that it is very difficult to work under the scorching sun or unexpected rain! You need to think of something. And we came up with a canopy - the canopy will save us!

They put the change house aside, sat down on a bench and had a brainstorming session. Eureka! Everything is easy and simple: we will make a canopy around our bench. The method was chosen as the simplest and most temporary, and most importantly, the cheapest - you only had to buy an awning.

We dug 4 holes 60 cm deep, however, in the last hole, our drill broke, and we had to play with an excavator - we had to pick the ground with our hands, so the hole turned out to be 55 cm deep. Further, they dug in pillars 50 * 50 from the previous unsuccessful fence.

The roof was made with a pitched roof, so posts 2.20 high were placed on the front, and 1.93 on the back. Above, they made a strapping and lower and pulled an awning on the roof. Since the size of the canopy turned out to be 2.50 * 1.65, the roof sagged a little, and we put scraps of old lining. The second tent was cut into two pieces and pulled over the sidewalls. Now we are not afraid of the sun or the rain! In addition, a cord was pulled along the front and curtains were hung.

Beyond the walls, the matter is gone

And in the meantime, we already had the first wall, which means that the rest should have appeared. And they appeared - they grew like mushrooms after the rain. I felt like I had a second wind. We worked from morning to night. This was primarily due to the weather, which did not want to help us.

When it came to the rafters, I sat down again under the sunsets canopy. Thank you mom for being an artist - I didn't have to think long. We ruined only one rafter, and that is because I was left-handed and did the cuts on the wrong side. All the other rafters lay down like family.

In general, everything that was planned at the construction site, I counted only on myself, but it's still great when there are assistants!

But there was a problem with the roof...

The case came up to the roof deck. I chose ondulin for reasons that I could put it on myself. Laying ondulin is not difficult, you just need to be careful - in construction, in general, you need to be more careful.

But then I missed! It so happened that the edge of the first roofing sheet did not hit the sheathing board. How I missed it, I don't understand! More precisely, I saw that I missed, but did not take action and did not throw an additional board. I write off the fact that we were in a great hurry to cover the roof before the rain, which was just approaching us.

And that turned out to be a big problem. The second sheet overlapped this edge and, as time showed, pressed on it. Now there is a hole there, along the entire roof. We need to do something. I have only one option so far: try to slip the board. Just slip it in, because the roof is already insulated from the inside and sewn up with a vapor barrier.
