Seed soaking is the basis for a good harvest
Is it worth soaking seeds in water before sowing? Many people ask this question. Is germination accelerated before sowing? The seeds do not need to be soaked, but it certainly speeds up germination.
Soaking seeds before planting is a trick of an experienced gardener that novice gardeners may not know about. The advantage of soaking the seeds before planting is that the germination time will be shortened, which means that the plant will germinate faster.
What do we need for soaking?
Seeds of vegetables - seeds with a hard shell are best impregnated, such as: tomatoes, corn, pumpkin, squash, beans, etc.
I do not soak seeds such as dill, carrots, radishes in water, since planting them will be difficult.
Room temperature water-water is best for soaking the seeds.
Steps to soak
We place the planned seeds for planting in a small container. We fill the container with water at room temperature halfway.
We place the container in a safe place. Soak the seeds for 24-42 hours before planting. Long soaking of seeds in water can lead to seed decomposition.
Floating seeds can be disposed of as they have an unlikely chance of growing.
After the seeds have absorbed the water and are swollen, we proceed to planting them in moist soil.
