Perennials that must be planted in the fall. I recommend them to all and everyone is happy
If you want blooming perennials to decorate your summer cottage next year, then it is worth considering that many of them need to be planted in the fall.
Flowers planted at this time by the beginning of spring will fully adapt to a new place and will be ready for intensive growth and abundant flowering.
Of the perennial flowers, planting, dividing and transplanting which are carried out in the fall, in my summer cottage they grow:
1. Small-bulbous flowers
At the very beginning of spring, crocuses, muscari (mouse hyacinth), blueberry (scilla), pushkinia, kandyk and white flowers begin to bloom.
Moreover, I planted spring and summer white flowers that resemble snowdrops, so they bloom on my site until mid-June.
It is necessary to plant small bulbous perennials at the very end of August - early September. And it is enough to transplant or thin out once every 4-6 years.
2. Adonis Volzhsky
At the same time, as small-bulbous, they plant adonis, whose bright yellow flowers appear at the end of April. Adonis bushes are transplanted once a decade, and even then, if necessary.
3. Bulbous perennials
If you want to decorate your summer cottage with daffodils and tulips, then the former must be planted in the first half of September, and the latter at the end of the month.
I try to renew most of my bulbous flowers (dig up, disassemble the bulbs) every five years, the only exceptions are multicolored tulips of double and fringed varieties, the bulbs of which I dig out yearly.
4. Day-lily
Daylilies of various colors bloom on my site almost all summer. And they need to be planted in early autumn too.
Without transplanting, these flowers can feel normal for about fifteen years. But still, after 5-7 years, daylilies flower stalks begin to release less often.
5. Peonies
Peonies planted in September begin to bloom early next summer. Moreover, wild peonies can grow in one place for more than 50 years, but their hybrid relatives require transplantation at least once every 10 years.
6. Aconite
Many are afraid to plant aconite on their site because of its toxicity. However, I really like this unpretentious plant with beautiful flowers.
At my dacha, I planted several varieties of aconite - purple, white and white-blue. And they bloom with me throughout the summer and even in early autumn.
Aconite should be planted in mid-September. You can, of course, sow it just before the frosts, but then you will have to wait 3-4 years for the plant to bloom.
Aconite does not need frequent transplants, however, experts recommend updating the place of its growth every five years.
I believe that early autumn is the very time when you not only need to take care of your planting of perennial flowers, but also think about what other plants you would like to see in your garden.
I told only about those flowers that live in my summer cottage. However, the choice of flowering perennials is simply huge.
