A fiery fireworks display, comrades gardeners!

Do you want to enjoy the beauty of clematis every summer? Support it with pruning. It stimulates the growth of new shoots and, accordingly, lush flowering the next year.

I recently wrote for you a long and detailed article on how to care for clematis in September. She mentioned that all varieties and hybrids of clematis are divided into 3 pruning groups, the work with which is radically different. And many people unsubscribed in the comments who do not know which group their handsome belongs to and what they need to do. I answer!

How to find out which pruning group clematis belongs to

When preparing for winter, keep in mind: most plants do not die from frost, but from stagnant water at the roots

The easiest and most obvious option is to read on the package from the seedling. I always say that it is worth studying it carefully and not hurrying it away.

Discarded packaging doesn't matter. You can try to enter the name of the variety in the search engine and read all the information about it.

Holders of nameless can also identify the pruning group of their clematis, based on observing the flowering of their favorite garden vine.

Save your post so you don't lose a useful diagram

Clematis type 1 pruning (somewhat generalized name - "Princes") - the simplest and most unpretentious. They give out the lion's share of buds on old shoots, and very little on young growth of the current year. Usually bloom in early summer, but can repeat the splendor by autumn.

They do not need serious pruning: they only remove dry, diseased, excess. And for greater bushiness, branches can be cut a little after flowering.

I made for you, comrades, a photo selection of type 1 clematis in gardens:

See what a play of light, color and texture: it seems that the petals are made of glass

Clematis of the 2nd pruning group - the most "capricious" of its kind. As far as this word can generally refer to clematis. But also the most beautiful (in my subjective opinion, of course): the size, shape, color are impressive.

For the 2nd pruning group, 2 outbreaks of flowering are characteristic: at the beginning of summer on last year's shoots and in the second half - on what has grown over this year. Similar to the behavior of the 1st group, but clematis of the second differ from it in appearance:

Large petals, open flower shape, attractive colors - it's all about the 2nd group of clematis pruning

Completely out of the general list 3rd group of clematis trimming. She does not need old shoots at all: the buds are formed from the beginning of summer to autumn without a break in the young growth. Therefore, before winter, it is advisable to cut the plants to zero and make a dump.

If, according to the description, you do not understand what kind of pruning group your clematis has, then I propose a universal option

Perhaps your clematis belongs to the 2nd or 3rd group, which require pruning to improve decorativeness. Do not leave the vine unattended: shorten half of the branches, and cut half of the branches almost at the root, leaving the hemp. So you and your clematis will definitely not lose!
