How to raise a house on your own to fill the foundation and replace rotten logs, timber
Old houses have their own problems. One of the most common problems is the destruction of the foundation. Because of this, walls can lead or even collapse. How to raise an old house to fill the foundation, replace logs or beams and live for many years without problems?
It is not uncommon for old houses to have a brick foundation. It crumbles over time. Moreover, the lower logs begin to turn into dust. They also need replacement. So, how to replace the foundation without lifting the house itself with a crane (without special. technique)? It is quite possible to replace the foundation, lower logs without disassembling the roof and walls.
To carry out the work you will need 2-4 jacks, wooden beams as additional supports. For strip foundations, prepare a concrete mixer, crushed stone, sand, cement M400, M500 and reinforcement of at least 12 mm.
Only one-story houses made of logs or beams can be lifted with a jack. It is better to use scissor, bottle hydraulic jacks (lifting capacity 6-10 tons for a house up to 110 square meters). Disconnect all communications in the house: gas, electricity, sewerage, water supply, etc. Provide free passage for the roof flue. Disconnect all connections and hoses at the boiler, which is on the floor.
So that the bar does not go to the side when lifting, it is better to make jibs. Screw the boards onto the self-tapping screws. It is possible additionally from the inside of the house for the fortress.
It is better to start from a bad (sagging) corner of the house. Remove the old foundation on one side of the house in the corners, make cuts in a log, a bar. They level the place and put a thick sheet of tin under the jacks. This is to ensure that the bottom of the jack does not go into the ground.
With the help of jacks, two corners of the house are raised. Raise the house by 1 cm with one jack and immediately go to the second. You need to lift it so that the bottom row of logs can be pulled out. In total, you need to raise no more than 3 cm so that there is no distortion of the walls.
We free the bottom of the house from the old foundation and lower logs (if rotted). Next to the jacks we put on a flat surface supports made of wood, metal. You can use segments from the surviving lower logs, timber. Do not use narrow supports. Wide padding needed. Thus, we will have 4 jacks at the corners of the house and support.
If you need to replace logs, timber, then the new one is lifted onto jacks. Do not forget to lay a mezhventsovy insulation. It is fixed to the logs from the inside of the house with metal plates using a screw anchor. Then the formwork is made and the foundation is poured.
