How easy it is to light a clay oven in a farmhouse
Our reader Nikolay, who lives in the Cherkasy region, in a hut in a hut, wants to share his experience with us.
My name is Nikolay, I live in the Cherkasy region in a hut, so there is a need to heat with firewood. We have a rough stove that heats two rooms at once, built into the partition between them. And in this life hacks I will tell you how to properly melt it so that carbon monoxide does not go into the room, and the room itself is warm and cozy.
For this we need:
● gas cylinder to accelerate ignition;
● metal scoop;
● paper;
● cardboard;
● small chips;
● bark;
● directly chopped firewood (preferably dry).
As paper, you can use waste paper, old junk notes, newspapers and even used toilet paper.
First you need to remove yesterday's ash. To do this, shovel it with a spatula onto the edge of the oven, where the grate is. Ash spills down into a metal tray. Take it outside. Note: in springtime, ash can be used as fertilizer.
Put paper on the bottom of the oven, put small twigs and chips on top, according to the principle of a well, and bark on top.
Open windows and doors in the room so that it is saturated with oxygen.
Now you can start the fire. For this we use a gas cylinder, the nozzles of which we direct to the very bottom of the furnace. Since according to physics, fire follows from bottom to top.
When the fire is hot enough, you can throw in small dry wood. When the wood burns enough (you understand this by the characteristic crackling), you can close the door in the stove, as well as the windows and doors in the room, so that precious heat does not go away.
Throw in wood from time to time, but do not overdo it so as not to put out the fire.
Some are afraid to leave the burning stove before bed, as they are afraid of suffocation. However, this is a common myth. If the ventilation system in the room is correctly configured, then problems should not arise. If not, I recommend that you tackle this issue in the near future in order to really protect yourself and your loved ones.
P.S. A nice bonus: if your rough stove has a horizontal surface, you can safely use it as a stove for cooking. Depending on the type of utensil you have, you can cook in two ways: using the screen as a frying pan or not. In the second option, direct fire will directly touch the dishes. If it suits you, then you can use it for better heat transfer.
And do not forget to collect the burnt ash when the stove cools down.
