Russian software will be mandatory for pre-installation on electronic gadgets from January 1, 2021
Starting from January 1, 2021, Russian software will be pre-installed on some electronic devices. This right was enshrined in the Government Decree of November 18, 2020.
Where and what will be installed from the new year
So, these changes should affect such electronic devices as:
- Smartphones.
- Tablets.
- Computers and laptops.
- Smart TV.
So on phones and tablets, applications such as: search engines, browsers, popular applications will be preinstalled. social networks, news, popular instant messengers, audio and video players, navigation systems, "Gosuslugi", payment system "Mir", programs for accessing cloud storage, antivirus programs and programs that guarantee access to important Internet portals.
In addition, computers will have browsers, Russian-made office software, but sharply wiser TVs there will be a Russian browser, an audio-video file service, as well as social networking applications and a search engine.
There is no specific list of applications that can be used yet. The specific list will be formed after the deadline for submission of applications (will last until December 1).
Who needs it and why
According to the creators of the original bill, all these measures are aimed at protecting the interests of Russian Internet companies and software developers. It is assumed that this will create a level playing field in the competition with the world's Internet giants.
Also (according to the developers of the bill) this will allow an ordinary user to use a smart device without the need to install anything additionally from third-party resources.
Well, until January 1, 2021, there is very little left and it will soon become clear how this bill will be implemented in reality.
Personally, I have nothing against the pre-installation of Russian software. How do you feel about this? Write in the comments. And don't forget to like and repost if you liked the material. Thanks for attention!
