Don't hang on to the yoke of credit - now is not the time! I tell you why I'm not happy with my new home
To live beautifully, but in debt or like everyone else, but without a credit stranglehold around your neck? Dilemma! There are no advisers on this issue, but there are people who, in one way or another, have faced a mortgage or loan. How they cope with payments in such a difficult time is of interest to everyone. A member of our portal, Vladimir, without embellishment, told about his situation with the purchase of a house.
I bought a house to show off in front of friends and relatives
I started buying a house three years ago. But I needed new housing not because of some need. Then I had a nice wooden house in the suburbs: 90 sq. square meters, gas heating, all amenities, good repair; yard of 6 acres, wood-fired sauna, gazebo, spacious garage.
I decided to change all this for a brick two-story house because of the status. At that time I turned forty-two and it was somehow indecent for an adult peasant to live in a wooden hut. I wanted a mansion to show that I had achieved something in life! It was also annoying that the first house came from my grandmother and formally this was not my achievement.
There was only one question - but will I pull? At that time, I was earning 90 thousand a month. Worked for a retail chain as a territorial development manager. Approximately the missing amount for a new house - 2 million rubles - the bank calculated me 39 thousand a month for 10 years. I thought I could handle it and planned to pay off the debt ahead of schedule.
Resolved - done!
I consulted with my family about plans to change housing to a more prestigious one - the children were happy; the wife tensed a little, but in the end agreed. I put my house up for sale and started looking for a new one. My house at that time pulled at 2.7 million, and I looked after for 4-4.5 million.
I found a good option: a new two-story house for final finishing with an area of 140 square meters on ten acres of land. There are no outbuildings, no fence, in general - an empty yard. All communications are summed up, it only remained to make cosmetic repairs, go in and live.
Decided - done. He sold his house, took money from the bank, bought a new one. I took from the bank, as planned, 2 million rubles. When buying a house, I bargained for another 150 thousand and in the end it was enough for a simple repair. As a result of all the manipulations with real estate, I pledged to pay 41 thousand rubles to the bank every month for 10 years.
But the house is new and I want new furniture, and plumbing, and a refrigerator with a gas stove are decent. And what - we live once! The wife took this credit for joy. We work with her in the same network: I am a manager, she is a store director. She receives 45-60 thousand - the salary depends on trade.
Furniture with household appliances came out for another 700 thousand rubles. The wife's monthly payment was almost 19 thousand. She took a loan for five years. In general, we have to pay banks 60 thousand a month. Not a little, but at that time we were able to do it. I spent the rest of my salary on improving the yard.
One crown came, and the other flew off the head!
We lived prestigiously and happily for more than two years. They received guests, arranged festive gatherings on the veranda, barbecued almost every weekend. In general, they were proud of their new home.
But then came the ill-fated 2020. We all know very well what happened at that moment and we don't have to talk about the pandemic in detail. But the results of the coronavirus invasion simply destroyed us. In April of that year, we were all sent home on vacation at our own expense.
My bank then gave a grace period for payments for six months, and for my wife for three months. We somehow experienced this moment. After the self-isolation was lifted, we went to work, but the business owner announced that we would work only for the salary specified in the contract, and this would last until the company got out of debt.
It turned out to be a very complex chain. Most of the landlords do not make concessions on the lease of premises. Shopping centers are closed and, accordingly, shops do not bring profit, and we do not receive salaries. When the shopping centers opened, this did not improve the situation - people do not spend money, there is no trade.
My employment contract specifies a salary of 30 thousand rubles a month, my wife has 25. We have debts in the bank for 60 thousand a month, and our total income was 55. They went into negative territory. We tried to look for another job, but at that time it simply wasn’t there. There were a lot of layoffs and managers with directors looking for work were in bulk.
We also got into debt so that the banks would not be overdue. We hoped that when everything would return to normal, we would pay off the loans. But the employer announced that it is changing the motivation. This meant that the salary would be less and more work. As a result, our total income dropped to 85 thousand per month. And we have to pay 60. For everything about everything, 25 thousand a month remain. I had to cut myself in everything.
Don't take big loans right now!
The house became not a joy, but a burden - paying for it for another seven years, and the prospects are not bright. When you're over forty-five, it’s harder to find a good job. Here I am now, I am in search, but in my region with a highly paid job, things are not very good. It just doesn't exist! And health can fail at any moment ...
I do not advise taking big loans right now. It no longer depends on us, but on the situation in the world. It is unclear what will happen in Donbass, what other sanctions will be introduced and how all this will turn out. If there is no urgent need, then wait out this most difficult time. You can lose your job at any time, but the banks won't look at it ...
