The electrician told why LED lamps often burn out (secrets of how to choose a good lamp in a store)
LED lamp manufacturers claim that it can shine for up to 50,000 hours. These bulbs are expensive and must be durable and efficient. But it often happens that they burn out quickly. You can forget about saving. Such lamps are several times more expensive than conventional incandescent lamps.
What reasons lead to regular burnout of lamps? How to choose the right LED lamp to last a long time?
There are many videos on the Internet on how to repair burnt out light bulbs. But we must not think about this, but about the mode in which the lamps function and why the declared 50 thousand hours end after a month of light bulb operation.
The main reason for the rapid failure is the poor quality of the bulb itself. There are manufacturers who attract buyers with a low price. The lamps shine brightly, beautifully, but not for a long time.
The reason is the lack of current stabilization. There is no protection against power surges.
For more money, some manufacturers make lamps that shine very brightly even at normal voltage. They just build voltage stabilization. In this case, the LEDs are on at full strength and burn out after a week.
Poor soldering in cheap bulbs also makes them short-lived.
Let's say you are buying expensive and high quality LED lamps.
But they often fail quickly too. Poor connection of hidden conductors may be the cause. Solution: check the quality of the wire connections. There should be no twists, sparks, burnt or exposed wires.
The chandelier could be the cause. Solution: disassemble and look at all contacts, cartridges and other places for defects. Fold up the center contact in the socket to make a secure connection.
You can not often turn on and off LED lamps. For low-quality products, this is critical and from frequent current surges, a cheap Chinese lamp will quickly burn out.
Do not use backlit switches for LED lamps. They only serve for incandescent lamps. This is why they start to flicker in the dark. This leads to a quick exit from standing lamps.
How do I choose a good store lamp?
1. The price of lamps is influenced by the quality of LEDs. But in the store, we cannot make out and look inside. We can only trust the manufacturers and what they indicated on the packaging.
2. Look at the packaging for the CRI.
The higher the value is 100, the better the LEDs are. Expensive lamps have this index over 90.
3. You should not pay attention to the packaging of the luminous flux indicator. Manufacturers overestimate it.
It is unrealistic to check it in the conditions and even more so in the store.
4. Look at the lamp body. It is best to choose aluminum or ceramic. The plastic case does not cool the LEDs well, so they quickly overheat and fail.
