Probably, Ukraine continues to buy Belarusian electricity, but now through the Emirates
Another scandal erupted in a neighboring country in Ukraine, and it is not related to the acquisition Belarusian electricity, because because of the difference in views, the Ukrainian authorities do not want to buy such electricity. And it is connected with the scheme of its acquisition, which is used in this case.
It turns out that the electricity generated at the Belarusian nuclear power plant is purchased according to a rather exotic scheme. We will now talk about this “unusual” scheme for purchasing electricity, in which a company from the United Arab Emirates participates.
How the new procurement scheme works
So, the new scheme for the purchase of electricity for Ukraine is as follows: Belarusian company Belenergo sells electricity to a UAE-registered company called Vector Energy Innovation FZCO.
At the same time, the selling price of 1 MWh is set at $59. Further, FZCO sells electricity to the Ukrainian company TET Group, but at a price of $100 per 1 MWh.
And already the Ukrainian company sells the purchased electricity at a price of 105-108 dollars per 1 MWh.
In principle, it becomes clear that there is no physical purchase of electricity in the United Arab Emirates in principle, and only the financial component is involved here. And it turns out that instead of direct purchases at much more reasonable prices, purchases of electricity occur at greatly inflated prices through third parties.
Of course, this is more a political issue than a purely economic one. The only thing is that as a result of the implementation of such a multi-pass scheme, the ordinary consumer suffers as a result, who is simply forced to pay for electricity at greatly inflated prices.
Well, let's see how the scandalous story with the disclosure of the scheme for acquiring electricity through such a complex scheme with a bunch of intermediaries ends.
