I wanted to build a garage from aerated concrete, but I would have to use cinder block with insulation. We consider how much more profitable it is
After building the house, there are plans to build a garage. Frosts in our country are -40. For example, last winter for several days there were frosts of -50 gr. Therefore, the car must be kept in a warmer place. Yes, I would also like to have a workshop in the garage.
Until recently, I was a supporter of aerated concrete. I also planned to use it for the garage. But after 2021 all manufacturers of this material raised prices by 1.5-2 times - I started counting. Aerated concrete is currently in our region 7500 rub./m3. Builders in their social networks write that in the Moscow region the price of aerated concrete is already 10 thousand rub./m3. Looked at the websites of manufacturers - it is.
I chose a garage project in approximately this style with a flat roof made of aerated concrete with a density of D350 (strength B2.0). With only two gates. The overlap is monolithic - according to the profiled sheet. The foundation is a slab or tape with backfill.
On the walls of the garage for two cars and the workshop need about
18 m3 material with wall thickness 20 cm Garage dimensions: 11x6x2.7 m. 135000 rub. Against 82800 rub. at 2020 prices (I bought aerated concrete for 4600 rubles. with delivery).Compare with the cost of walls made of sand-cement blocks or cinder blocks, as many like to call them. In our region, PShchS blocks made of crushed stone are common. Their size is 188x190x390 mm, and taking into account the solution - 20x20x40 cm
The average price of a double-hollow PSC-block is 40 rubles / piece In 1 m3 62 pcs. Needed for the garage 44640 rub. Mineral glue for laying a gas block or mortar for laying PShchS blocks is not taken into account.
It is better to insulate the workshop (if you plan to work in it during the cold season). But it is impossible to insulate the workshop separately so that it does not stand out on the facade. Then for the entire perimeter of the walls 28 m you need 7 m3 insulation 100 mm thick. It can be facade polystyrene (PSB S-25) or minplate. Let's take the first option, although I am a supporter of non-combustible heaters. The price of PSB S-25 today is about 5000 rub./m3. A plus 35 thousand rub. and plaster. Let's put more 10 thousand rub. for plastering work and all consumables (we do everything ourselves). Total: 90 thousand rub. for wall material.
I looked at a pie of such a wall in a heat engineering calculator:
Thermal resistance of the passage walls in the Siberian climate. You can work in the workshop even in winter if there is heating (stove), heat loss as in a normal house. In principle, even a house can be built using this technology. But we build two-story buildings from PShchS blocks with a monolithic reinforced concrete frame. The brand of blocks is still M75-100.
As can be seen from this calculation, a garage with walls made of PShchS blocks with insulation and plaster is cheaper by 45 thousand rub., than garage walls made of aerated concrete (and without plaster). I hope this information will help someone in choosing a material.
