In general, despite the fact that these clamps have a long history, they have not lost their relevance.

Previously, they were made entirely of wood, clamping screw with a wooden carving. The case was also made thread clamp.

Make these simple clamp. For the simplest version will need a couple of bars of solid wood - birch, maple, beech. Threaded rod and a pair of nuts.

Take two identical square-section bar. On the one hand made bevels. In one bar is two through holes in them from different sides glued nuts. In another bar one opening through another blind.

When using the first screw grips directly bringing together the front part of the bars and the other works as a lever, spreading backs bars than amplifies clamp.

Clamps can be completely different sizes. For example, to use bars of 450 mm length, section of 80x80 mm and the threaded rod 20 mm in diameter. Or miniature 80 mm long section of 20x20 mm with a 6 mm stud. That is, you can make them for different tasks.
